Notice of a change in cooking oils (trans fat free, GMO free)
Thank you very much for your patronage of HUGE Restaurants.
Starting September 1, we at HUGE Restaurants have changed all of our cooking oils to trans fat and GMO free oils. The American Food and Drug Association (FDA) announced in June, 2015 its intention to ‘ban trans fats in restaurants’ by the end of 2018.
As for Japan, we feel there are no clear guidelines for restaurants and fast food chains regarding risk recognition and labeling requirements for foods and processed goods. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that the intake of trans fats be reduced to less than 1% of total energy intake.HUGE Restaurants searched the globe for cooking oils that meet the criteria set forth by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestries and Fisheries for trans fat free (less than 0.3g per 100g).
We are also pleased to announce that we only use oils made using the time-tested cold-pressed extraction method, and whose ingredients all have traceability to show that they are GMO free.
Our whole staff strives to provide safe, reliable food, and we are looking forward to your continued patronage.
